The first-ever Pennsylvania Championship of Online Poker (PACOOP) has recently come to an end, and the event has made a huge mark on the state’s gaming market. Attracting thousands of players, the inaugural PACOOP smashed its overall guarantee by over 25%.

When PokerStars first announced the PACOOP, it was only a couple of weeks before the event was set to begin on November 30th. However, word spread quickly, and over 10,000 players made sure to enter the PACOOP’s 50 events.

The most tempting part about the online poker tournament was that there would be a total $1.225 million prize pool across all of the events in the PACOOP. This is surely what attracted players to the tournament, which then resulted in PokerStars exceeding its guarantee. In the end, the total prize pool of $1.55 million.

PACOOP’s Biggest Events

The first ever PACOOP main event was certainly the most exciting part of the tournament. The £300 buy-in event offered up a $125,000 prize pool and it was the biggest tournament offered by PokerStars since the site went live in the state in November 2019.

The main event drew a very impressive crowd with 640 entries. 420 of these were unique players and the rest were re-entries. As a result, the prize pool was surpassed by a longshot, accumulating over $179,000.

The winner of the main event was Gyea08, who landed himself a payout worth more than $31,000. The second-place prize of $22,000 went to a player named lilholdem952 – while the rest of the final tablet players also earned thousands of dollars.

Mimicking the format of the main event was tournament #45 – but, it only had a $50 buy-in. Over 800 players entered this event, generating a prize pool of over $37,000. The PACOOP also marked the first time that PokerStars PA hosted a Zoom tournament – an exciting first for the brand.

If this is a sign of things to come from PokerStars Pennsylvania, we’re excited for 2020. The brand continues to offer players across the state more and more exciting opportunities to get involved.

Although the PACOOP is over, PokerStars is still running some great promotions. The site is currently running a Christmas calendar with all sorts of bonuses available, and Platinum Passes can be won by watching the PokerStars Twitch channel. So, there are many ways for players around the world to enjoy great perks from PokerStars.
