A high-stakes poker duel is brewing between Daniel Negreanu and Doug Polk who will have a showdown in Las Vegas on November 4 at 5 pm PT in person, before the format moves online for the follow-up matches.
Poker fans from around the world will be able to tune in and watch the first 200 hands played out of a planned total of 25,000 hands which will determine once and for all which of the two players is actually better.
Dubbed “High Stakes Feud,” the match-up reflects on the two players’ ongoing rivalry which is exciting for the fans to see.
The game will be streamed live from the PokerGO Studio at the Aria Resort and Casino and will also premier on the PokerGO’s YouTube and Facebook channels. The participants’ names aside, Negreanu and Polk have had a beef for a fair while now.
They both post a rather impressive poker record, too. Negreanu holds six World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets and has won the World Poker Tour (WPT) championship twice. Meanwhile, Polk has three WSOP bracelets and is held in high esteem because of his heads-up playstyle.
Does Polk Have the Upper-hand Here?
In fact, Polk is touted as the best player in this category, giving him, according to some, an advantage over his opponent in the upcoming game on Wednesday next week. Commenting on the pending match, PokerGO executive producer Mori Eskandani had this to say:
“With Negreanu and Polk’s perennial rivalry and constant conflicts on social media, ‘High Stakes Feud’ will be a match fans will not want to miss. The one-on-one match format between these notable poker professionals, along with the possibility of this game lasting multiple months makes the outcome of each day in this series a must-see.”
Last-minute change of schedule moved the game from November 1 to November 4, with the first 200 hands played in-person and then the format moving online onto the WSOP.com platform, with Polk and Negreanu facing off three or five times a week.
Paul Burke, senior manager of content at GGPoker, was equally excited at the opportunity of making this match-up a reality. Burke was excited for having had the opportunity to be part of the event which he reckons will reunite millions of fans and players around the world to watch 25,000 possible hands, each of which will be “exhilarating to witness.”
The “High Stakes Feud” will be exclusively available on PokerGO and be the studio’s latest executive production.
