In Los Angeles, the 2016 World Poker Tour (WPT) Legends of Poker is taking place at the Bicycle Casino. The event started with 687 players, but now it’s down to six, who will compete at the final table.

And the old saying “Old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill” seems to be truth for the event this year.

Local William Vo, 77-years old and Pat “Flying Lyon, slightly younger than Vo, are the two favorites to win the $615,346 first-place prize. Recently, Lyons won a career-high $241,700 at the 12th Annual Arizona State Poker Championship.

The two players have the biggest stacks, but they will encounter some stiff competition at the final table,  including Upeshka De Silva and Bejamin Zamani. In the WPT Choctaw Main Event, back in July, Zamani finished in runner-up to James Mackey and in 2015 De Silva won a WSOP bracelet.

Zamani is also in the lead for the Hublot WPT Season 15 Player of the Year race.

Day Four

At the beginning of Day Four 13 players were still in the hunt, but seven of them were eliminated before the end of the day. Among the ones who hit the rail were: Jeremy Kottler (7th ), Garret Greer (8th), David “ The Dragon” Pham (9th) and WSOP Europe champ Baryy Schulman (12th).

David “The Dragon” Pham used to be a familiar face on the WPT, but in the last four years the player had not cashed on the tour. In the 2007 Legends of Poker, Pham finished runner-up to Dan Harrington. While Pham didn’t make the televised finale, this time was the 17th WPT cash for him.

On Thursday at 4 pm PT, the final six players will compete for the title on the televised WPT Final Table. Players will return to action in Level 28 (30,000/60,000/10,000)

3,210,000 – Benjamin Zamani
