At the moment, the referendum in the UK regarding  their stay in the European Union (EU) is a hot topic and Tony G, a former poker pro and member of the European Parliament, offered a £ 1 million prop bet to just add more spice to the proceedings.

The former poker pro is in favor of UK staying a member of the European Union and he’s willing to bet £1 million on it. It all started when Nigel Farage, UK politician who advocates that the UK should leave the EU, placed a £1,000 bet that the majority would vote for UK to leave the European Union.  Tony G saw the opportunity to up the stakes and offered Farage to bet him £1 million in case he’s wrong.

Will Farage Accept the Bet?

Naturally, the money would go to charity, given the spotlight on the two political figures. However Farage does not seem willing to accept the bet proposed by Tony G.

Farage could obtain the money by gathering backers before June 23 and accept the bet, but with the referendum date approaching, this is probably not one of Farage’s priorities.

Their Views on the EU

Prop bet aside, Tony G and Farage actually have similar views on the EU. Both of them believe the current system should be re-examined, since it isn’t fit for purpose.

However, the difference is that while G thinks the UK and EU should resolve the issues together, Farage believes the UK should leave the EU.

Naturally, Tony G has an additional interest that motivates his proposal: online sportsbook, namely TonyBet.

Tony G became one of poker’s most memorable characters and won over $4,5 million in tournament earnings by showing this attitude that motivated him to offer this bet.
