After failing to negotiate deals with offshore markets, Oklahoma poker site PokerTribe.com had to delay the launch of its real online money site.

PokerTribe.com was launched as a free play poker site for international players back in May by the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma.

The Iowa Tribe found a loophole in the system thanks to its tribal states- this despite the lack of online poker regulation in the State of Oklahoma.

Green Light for Gaming

The Iowa Tribe eventually went to arbitration after moving to sue the state in 2015. There was agreed on during the hearing that the tribe wouldn’t be in breach of any federal laws as long as its gaming servers were located on tribal land.

On May 1, 2016 the arbitrator’s decision was certified by a judge. Players outside of the US could now play at the free site for them PokerTribe.com

On August 1, real money would have to be added to the platform, following the launch. All the players received, was a change of plan- message when that date came this week.

For at least two-and-a-half months PokerTribe.com will remain a free site to play, mainly due to issues while negotiating with ‘foreign governments’.

‘According to a statement released by the operator and its Universal Entertainment Group, licensing terms and the processing of funds are currently being agree on a country-by-country basis.’

October 15, 2016, is now set as the new launch date as a result of these protracted negotiations.

Worth the Wait, or not?

The success of PokerTribe.com is still not guaranteed, even if the plan comes together in the nearby future.

Due to how young the site is and how untested its software is, offering real money games to players in big gaming countries will be extremely hard.

Only established operators with assets divided over multiple countries seem to survive nowadays with a regulated marked, strict gaming laws and high taxation.

Only if PokerTribe.com can persuade players to ante-up, only then the site may have enough money to facilitate an international launch.

Then there’s the fact that the Tribe of Oklahoma and its PokerTribe.com has to contend with iGaming regulators across Europe. History has shown that this can be a struggle.
