Neymar Junior, one of the best soccer players of the actuality, was chosen by PokerStars along with Cristiano Ronaldo to be their brand ambassador last year.

Neymar is only 23 years old and has already achieved a great deal of fame, prizes and millions of dollars. However some of his money may now be in jeopardy due to tax avoidance scandal in Brazil.

According to the Brazilian government Neymar failed to pay taxes back in 2007. Now, Neymar must pay approximately $47,000 in fines and his father owes the government over $67,000. Back in 2007 Neymar was still a minor and his father was responsible for him and for that reason has to pay his share.

The court’s decision was made in 2012 and Neymar’s father filed an appeal back in 2014. However the court decided the original fine amount decided by the court in 2012 was correct. According to the lawyers representing Neymar, he will appeal the court’s decision.

In addition to that, the court ruled that Neymar also failed to pay taxes from 2011 to 2013, a total amount of nearly $16 million. Since last September due to non-payment, $48 million of his asset was frozen, three times the amount owed.

In 2013 Neymar started playing in FC Barcelona. Experts believe he can become one of the greatest of his generation. He hasn’t disappointed his millions of fans and has become even more popular. He’s performance is followed online daily by his legion of social media fans.

This transfer was great for FC Barcelona; however there were some legal issues. The cub president and his predecessor were accused by a Spanish court of evading millions in taxes during this transfer. On February 2nd Neymar and his father will testify regarding this issue in Spain.

PokerStars Ambassador

Besides soccer Neymar also loves playing Poker as a hobby. It is one of his favorite hobbies:

When I’m          not playing [soccer], playing poker and competing against my teammates on the road or in                 home games with friends is one of my favorite things to do.”

That why he was invited to be PokerStars’ ambassador. His screen name at PokerStars is “Neymar-jr”.

Along with Neymar, other PokerStars brand ambassadors include soccer star Ronaldo and top tennis player Rafael Nadal.

On the matter of Neymar’s tax evasion case, PokerStars has not release any statements.
