In the 2016 presidential election, Mike Pence (Indiana’s Republican Governor) and Donal Trump will represent their mutual party. On July 15, Trump formally announce Mike Pence as his running mate.

Due to the latest terror attack in France, Trump delayed a formal news conference scheduled for the 15th of July to announce his running mate, but wrote on Twitter:  “I am pleased to announce that I have chosen Governor Mike Pence as my Vice Presidential running mate”.

During the July 14’s Bastille Day celebrations on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France, a massacre killed 84 people and left many more gravely injured. In just 18 months, France has suffer three acts of terrorism.

Francois Hollande, French President, said: “ A fresh atrocity has just been inflicted on France. It is the whole of France which is under threat from Islamic terrorism.”

On Friday, to add to the complete news chaos, in Turkey an unexpected military coup d’état attempt took place.  For the media around the world the specifics were unclear, it was hard to said to if the coup was in response to the increasing threat coming from Syria, resultant in recent attacks in France.

After the announcement, Mike Pence was immediately put to work by Trump, the running mate released duo’s official statements on the latest news:

“Our hearts go out to the fallen and their families. As we mourn with the people of France, we must resolve to bring to justice all those responsible and defeat this enemy of civilization at its source.”

Sheldon Adelson

Billionaire Sheldon Adelson, ex-CEO Las Vegas Sands, has been for the past decade one of the biggest Republican donors and this presidential cycle will not be different. To support the GOP, Adelson has donated $100 million.

Adelson is adamantly pro-Israel and against online gambling and it seems like Pence and Trump are taking steps to satisfy their top donor.

Trump announced this week the formation of a Israel Advisory Committee, that will advise Trump on strengthen Israel’s position through US Policy.

In a statement, Trump said: “The conflict between Israelis and Palestinians runs deep. We mustn’t fear taking new, constructive and mutually beneficial steps to advance the cause of peace in the region, recognizing, at all times, the moral and strategic alliance, as well as the unbreakable bond, between the United States and Israel.”

Regarding gambling and poker, Pence opined in 2014: “I believe it is necessary for Congress to restore the original interpretation of the Wire Act that prohibited Internet gambling Nationwide. With the mobility of our society and the widespread access to the internet, a federal prohibition of Internet gambling is necessary.”

Even though, Pence may not be the ideal VP  for enthusiast of gaming liberalization, he may be open to persuasion, since he did vote for a daily fantasy sports bill in his home state.
