You may not even believe what happened on Monday in the 2016 PokerStars WCOOP High Roller $102,000 buy-in tournament.
Someone else was crowned champion, while Fedor Holz took place in the field of the high roller tourament. The screen name of this player is “bencb789”.
However, please don’t feel too bad for Fedor. He raked $1,067,639.40 after finishing in second place of the 2016 WSOP One Drop High Roller. Prior to the start of the heads-up play, the eventual champ and Fedor made a deal. There was only a $100K difference between first and second place, as the winner received $1,172,360.60.
Final Table Bad Beats
There were six of the 28 original entrants left when Day Two began on Monday. There would be payouts for only three players. Isaac “philivey2694” Haxton and Mikita “fish2013” Badziakouski were eliminated early by Holz, who did the dirty work. In both hands he had his money in the underdog position. But he got there both times as he does so often.
When Fedor hit a flush that didn’t pair the board, Haxton became the bubble boy losing with top set. Three players remained to fight for the $2.8 million prize pool with Salman “salfshb” Behbehani, “bencb789” and “CrownUpGuy” Holz.
Behbehani eventually won $560,000 after he rivered a straight to stay alive. He actually got a bit lucky to end up with a cash prize after he entered Day Two with the chip lead.
“Had Haxton’s set of 10s held up against Fedor’s flush draw, the tournament would have been four-handed, with each player being within striking range of the chip lead. Holz still would have held the lead, with just under 300,000 but all players would have been over 150,000. With Haxton eliminated, Holz had a commanding lead three-handed.”
Behbehani actually entered Day Two with the chip lead but in pre-flo he got stacked by the ace-queen of “bencb789” with his ace-king. To ensure that both players received at least $1 million, a heads-up deal was made since there was so much at stake and the blinds were so high.
This was Fedor’s fourth seven-figure this summer. His total went up to at least $ 1 million in tournament earning since June 1.
In short, the 23-year old had a very good summer.
