888poker is once again the official sponsor of the 2017 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Following in the footsteps of 2 big announcements by WSOP officials in regards to the retirement of the Main Even November Nine and a new television deal, 888poker reveals “The 8-Team.” They are giving away one seat to a lucky qualifier to represent 888poker at next year’s series.

888poker will be taking 5 teams, each representing one country, to participate in the 2017 WSOP Main Event. Each team will feature a team captain, wingman, and a qualifier from 5 different countries; UK, Germany, Canada, Brazil and Sweden. The qualifier who reaches the highest spot in the tournament out of the 5 qualifiers from The 8-Team will win a value-packed package to the 2918 WSOP Main Event.

To make it as a qualifier member of these 5 teams, players will first have to win a WSOP Main Event package through 888poker, and then get chosen from the pool of eligible qualifiers. Their status will then be determined by June 28th.

The team captains have already been selected and announced, while the wingmen (wing women) will be announced in the coming weeks.

The 5 Captains are as follows:

Team UK – Chris Moorman
With roughly $14 million in lifetime earnings and $4.6 million in live tournament earnings including a career-best $1,068,690 for finishing runner-up to Elio Fox in the 2011 WSOP Europe Main Event, 888poker Ambassador Chris “Moorman1” Moorman is the most successful online tournament poker player and more than qualified to captain any poker team.

Team Brazil – Bruno Politano
Having already made a name for himself after finishing eighth in the 2014 WSOP Main event and taking home $947,172, he’s looking to take his team further than ever before in this year’s Main Event.

Team Canada – Parker “Tonkaaaa” Talbot
A 2017 newcomer to Team 888poker, Tonkaaaa is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch and will be leading Team Canada. Primarily an online player for 5 days a week, he is looking to score his first WSOP cash to add to his $246,368 in live tournament earnings.

Team Sweden – Sofia Lövgren
Known mostly for her cash plays, she has fair amount of experience in tournaments too. She placed 44th in a big Macau championship event for $12,996, then 10 days later placed 10th in the 888Live Eater Edition London for $1.018. She came close to making the final table of the Millionaire Maker at last year’s WSOP, but ultimately finished in 12th place, cashing out a career-high $75.109.

Team Germany – Dominik Nitsche
Already with 3 WSOP bracelets to his name and $6.5 million in tournament earnings dating back to 2009, 888poker Ambassador Dominik Nitche has performed exceptionally in recent years. He also made a name for himself on the high roller circuit by finishing 2nd in the 2016 $50,000 ARIA Super High Roller 9 for $629,808 and winning the 2016 UKIPT5 Dublin €2000 High Roller for $176,177. Never one to stop, he finished runner-up in the EPT12 Dublin €10,000 High Roller for $156,916 just 2 days later.
