Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) has announced an upcoming software update, which will provide players with an improved tournament experience. The announcement was made on Twitter, so only a few details are known thus far.

What we know from MPN’s tweet is that there will be a change to the tournament lobby. It seems as though the operator will be adding in useful tools that allows players to see how many buy-ins, rebuys and add-ons they currently have, so they can keep better track of their gaming.

Currently, MPN operates on almost 30 gaming websites. There are quite big brands that use the poker platform, including Grosvenor Poker and Betsson. So, players at these sites will benefit from the newly updated software at some point in the near future.

Potential Last Update Before the Network’s Closure

MPN has been a big player in the online gaming market for quite some time, but announced its closure in September 2019. When Microgaming executives were asked why the poker network would be shutting down, the company’s CEO John Coleman stated that its model “no longer fits with our strategic vision for poker”.

It’s quite a vague answer, so players speculated that the closure could be due to bots which have been running rampant in the online poker community for the past couple of years.

The operator plans to shut down its poker network some time next year, either in Q2 or Q3, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be anymore Microgaming poker games. According to Coleman, Microgaming is will be taking “a new strategic direction for the vertical, details of which will be revealed in due course”.

So, it does make sense that the company is still rolling out updates for its poker software. If MPN closes but there is still another online poker product in the pipeline, the company will want to keep its software updated for the new project.

ItIt will be exciting to see what MPN actually has planned for its tournament lobby update. More information is likely to be announced over the course of the next week, and we will keep you updated with further details to let you know how MPN plans to improve the tournament gaming experience for its players across a wide variety of sites.
