Transitioning Into A Resort Destination
Along with this incredible array of giveaways and rewards, Live! Casino also took this opportunity to make a big announcement. In response to the main rival in the name of National Harbor Resort, owned by MGM that opened last December, Robert Norton, CEO and chairman of the parent company to Maryland Live!, took to the stage and announced his plans to turn the gambling-first facility into a full-fledged Resort.
The plans include a $200 million 17-storey hotel tower with 310 guest rooms. Although only speculative, this particular number could have significant meaning behind it given that the rival resort, National Harbor, has 308 rooms.
In order to attract more customers, the resort will also feature a 1,500 seat theater, in hopes to transform the entire place into a weekend travel destination.
Not willing to continue letting National Harbor get away with the lead, Live! purchased a nearby former Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites in order to allow guests to stay overnight while the hotel tower is being built. Though the temporary solution is further away than a short walk, the company will be providing free shuttle service to transport guests between the 2 facilities.
