For any other A-lister, this would be a regular night on the town, but the news has gone viral to Affleck\u2019s <strong>ongoing battle with alcohol addiction<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to TMZ, Affleck was caught on camera, stumbling\nout of the UNICEF Masquerade Ball in West Hollywood. He was then spotted at a\npoker table in the Commerce Casino, where bought in for $20,000 in chips. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was only at the table for 12 minutes. He managed to<strong> snag a $1,500 win<\/strong> and left right away. Generally, in the poker world, this is called a \u201chit and run\u201d and it\u2019s against etiquette \u2013 but, that\u2019s not the biggest issue here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"is-this-a-relapse\">Is This A Relapse?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ben Affleck has been struggling with alcoholism for quite some time. In August 2018, he entered <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/5023083\/ben-affleck-alcoholism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">rehab for the third time<\/a>. It\u2019s unfortunate that he\u2019s backslid this weekend, but he\u2019s acknowledged it and stated that he won\u2019t trigger a pattern of behaviour. The next morning, Affleck told paparazzi: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cIt\u2019s a slip but I\u2019m not going to let it derail me.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>TMZ also included a statement from a source close to Affleck.\nThey noted that he could \u201cslip up from time to time\u201d, and that his problems\nwith addiction aren\u2019t \u201csimply behind him\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This echoes what Ben has said about alcohol addiction in the past. In a March 2019 interview on The Today Show, he says: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cI think a lot of people look at addiction and say, \u2018It\u2019s over, he did it. It\u2019s like cancer, he\u2019s cured. He\u2019s done.\u2019 But it is a lifelong battle for you\u201d. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>While it is alarming that Affleck was caught falling off the wagon on camera, he acknowledges that it\u2019s not a sign he\u2019s lost control. Fans and fellow celebs are <strong>wishing him the best <\/strong>and hoping this is a one-time thing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ben-afflecks-poker-career\">Ben Affleck\u2019s Poker Career <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people know Ben Affleck for his achievements in Hollywood, but he\u2019s also well-known in the poker world. In addition to being a talented actor and director, Affleck has also made some big moves as a poker player. While he primarily plays in cash games, he has competed in some prestigious tournaments and even landed in<strong> first place in the 2004 No Limit Hold\u2019em event of the California State Poker Championship<\/strong>.
