Russian poker players <strong>Georgii Belianin<\/strong>\nwas asked to leave his table, leaving his $10,000 buy-in into the\nbid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belianin\nwas accused of \u201ccheating\u201d after he swept a small pot he had just\nwon along with the neighbouring chips of a player, which was\nimmediately clamped down on by WSOP. Without further ceremony,\nBelianin was asked to leave the table and he was handed a swift ban\nfrom attending Caesars property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With\naround 1<em>0 years of\nexperience playing live game<\/em>s,\nthis had been the first time Belianin had been mentioned in a bad\nlight. Poker contributor <strong>Drew Amato<\/strong>\ncaught Belianin as he was being escorted out of the casino later when\nhe tried re-entering the property and being arrested as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Day 1C off to a BANG! Based\non <strong>Jack Effel&#8217;s<\/strong> account, responsible for managing the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsop.com\/2019\/\"><strong>WSOP\nMain Event<\/strong><\/a>, Belianin had intentionally try to steal chips\nfrom his fellow players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, <strong>Tom\nPeterson<\/strong>, who was playing next to Belianin at the table, objected\nto the accusation and he was not alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"no-belianin-is-not-a-cheat\">No, Belianin Is Not a Cheat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When the\nreputation of a poker player is at stake, the poker community doesn&#8217;t\nsit idly by. Apart from Peterson, there have been others who said\nthat Belianin was an exemplary player, bar his proclivity for drink.\nHere is what <strong>Brandon Shack-Harris <\/strong>had to say on the matter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WSOP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@WSOP<\/a> Agree with this. I&#39;ve played with Georgi online and off for about ten years, and never had a negative experience. Always trying to have a good time in spite of language barriers. My gut says this is a ( dumb ) joke gone wrong, and tbh being Russian not doing him any favors<\/p>&mdash; Brandon Shack-Harris (@Oscillator_WSOP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Oscillator_WSOP\/status\/1147266406137774080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 5, 2019<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He\nwas not alone in arguing the case for Belianin. Nearly everyone\nagreed that WSOP&#8217;s decision has gone too far and that Belianin was\nvisibly drunk, but his antics was meant as a joke. Similar opinions\nwere shared by the other players at the table that were playing with\nhim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless,\n<strong>WSOP<\/strong> and <strong>Effel<\/strong> argued that the tournament had a\n<strong>\u201czero-tolerance policy\u201d<\/strong> about cheating \u2013 perceived or\notherwise. Belianin has made amendments since reaching out to\nPokerNews and to his fans on social media, apologizing for what he\nperceived as unethical behavior:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hello<br>I really want to apologize to all players, staff, mr. Effel and the whole poker community for my unprofessionalism and misbehavior in WSOP main event. Without a\nhesitation, he took the nearby chips and threw them in, drawing the\nentire pot towards him. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belianin\nantics were out of line, but they could have been overlooked. The\narrest however made things grave for a disappointed Belianin who has\napologized since.
