Although it\u2019s still far from rivalling what we have in the US in terms of breadth and scope, events have been chugging along just as well down in the subtropical continent. <\/p>\n<p>Now, the <strong>Match Indian Poker League (MIPL)<\/strong> is in its third season, allowing for player and spectator alike to enjoy yet another intense action of poker. The event officially kicked off on <strong>Tuesday, 23 October<\/strong>, having eight competing teams join and vie for the prize pool. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The ravishing <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ShamitaShetty?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ShamitaShetty<\/a> is ready to steal some hearts with her performance at the Season 3 of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PokerRajMatchIPL?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PokerRajMatchIPL<\/a>. It does help to be well-versed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinepokeramerica.com\/news\/mtv-is-on-the-hunt-for-indias-next-poker-stars\/\">Indian culture<\/a> to know who these people are, of course.<\/p>\n<p>More importantly, however, is the fact that MIPL has really been gaining traction with local players. The winners will end up as the team that will officially represent the country <a href=\"http:\/\/matchpokerfed.org\/2018\/10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">at the upcoming Poker Nations Cup<\/a>, which has been endorsed and supported by the International Federation of Match Poker (IFMP).<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"season-3-and-beyond\">Season 3 and Beyond<\/h3>\n<p>So far, Season 3 has proven a success. Other notable teams in the event are <em>Pune Kinge<\/em>, the <em>Kolkatta Diamonds<\/em>, the UP Indians, the <em>Mumbai All Stars<\/em>, the <em>Bangalore Royals<\/em> (second in the current standing), the <em>Jaipur Jewels<\/em>, and the <em>Ahmedabad Hearts<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>However, one glaring absence is the Goa Lions who didn\u2019t want to participate over last-minute changes that hosts had to do in order to ensure a smooth play. Basically, the software that was going to be used to host the games had to be replaced with normal physical decks due to a glitch in the system.<\/p>\n<p>Goa Lions insisted that they enter without paying any tournament fee as a result of the events. The case is now being settled by a mediator. <\/p>\n<p>India has <a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/tech\/internet\/raj-kundras-viaan-to-take-poker-league-online\/articleshow\/63707049.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a strong and promising future in both offline and online poker<\/a>, and the country\u2019s prospects are improving by the day.
