Even though we are in a bit of a poker dry spell, the game will return in its splendidness as early as September! The upcoming PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is one of the events that will keep us excited, too, with the $70 million in prize money available for the players who manage to distinguish themselves.

However, the pow-wow that takes place from September 2 through September 17 is not the only big tournament we should expect. PartyPoker have decided to also have their say in the month’s most exciting party meeting with now a freshly announced $60 million tour of their own!

Enter the Powerfest Online Poker Series, scheduled to run from September 2 through September 23 and perhaps steal a bit of the spotlight from the PokerStars-backed event. The total number of events is quite impressive with 670 different games for participants to pick from!

You needn’t be an accomplished professional to join either. PartyPoker will have you covered whatever your skill level and the buy-ins will range from $1 to $25,500. With eight successful events already under its belt, PartyPoker is not quite ready to concede a leadership position to PokerStars. Not just yet in any event.

The event is also expected to be the largest to date in the history of the portal. But PartyPoker certainly knows how to whip up excitement, too! On Thursday, the website will start running a number of qualifying events with a total prize pool of $50,000, allowing those eager to get an entrance in the tournament to knock off some of the entry costs.

More specifically, the more players participate in PartyPoker games between Thursday and September, the better their chance of winning free entry to the tournament is. With a particular focus on novice gamers, PartyPoker will provide accomplished professionals with sufficient opportunities to prove their skill and participate in a rich selection of over 20 championship competitions.

Over half of these events will feature prize pools that are worth over $1 million. The Powerfest event also released a number of promotions earlier in the month, namely the Sit & Go Jackpot, Fastforward Rake Race, Leaderboards, and Power Hour in anticipation of the upcoming event.

If there is any competition between PartyPoker and PokerStars, it’s a good thing. The website has managed to expand the clout of the game at home and well overseas. Most recently, PartyPoker helped pool French and Spanish players and the portal has been appointing a number of ambassadors who can help the brand get exposure and awareness.

Poker action has been growing. It’s no longer a matter of just a few events here or there. Rather, the game has managed to attract enough sponsors and players in all corners of the world. With the United States now relaxing the regulations on gambling and more notably sports betting, there are big hopes that through skilful lobbying, we may see the game take off in full.

And yet, that will take time, so let’s focus on the upcoming September poker madness instead.

Even though we are in a bit of a poker dry spell, the game will return in its splendidness as early as September!
