The only requirement was that the organizers must come up with a $500 million fee in order to get into the league. <\/p>\n<p>The Golden Knights become the 31st NHL team and will participate in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference from the beginning of the 2017-2018 season. The team\u2019s home arena will be the brand new T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, which was built earlier in the year. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"2nd-home-base-in-downtown-las-vegas\">2nd Home Base In Downtown Las Vegas<\/h2>\n<p>While majority of the new team\u2019s NFL action will go on at the T-Mobile Area, fans can expect lots of off-rink action at The D Las Vegas Casino Hotel, owned by Downtown hotel tycoons Derek and Greg Stevens. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to the partnership, Derek Stevens announced that his company will make a $100,000 donation to the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation to kick things off. The brothers also announced a whole slew of events that will be taking place at The D, this includes:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"globallistspacing\">\n<li>\u27a4Annual Fan Fest in the off-season<\/li>\n<li>\u27a4Special watch parties during every Golden Knights game<\/li>\n<li>\u27a4Player appearances at the hotel and casino<\/li>\n<li>\u27a4An official Golden Knights pop-up store at The D to sell team merchandise<\/li>\n<li>\u27a4Game tickets for purchase at Concierge <\/li>\n<li>\u27a4D Las Vegas Zamboni wrap at the new practice facility in Summerlin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Longbar at The D is already a go-to place when it comes to watching major sports events in downtown Las Vegas. The have several large TVs with great picture quality, and most importantly, viewable from most parts of the bar. The combination of all these things makes the casino the place to be for all hockey fans. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cComing from Detroit, which is a true Hockeytown, I\u2019ve had the opportunity to see how Mike Ilitch with Little Caesars Arena, and Pete Karmanos with Compuware AAA Hockey have impacted the community and youth sports,\u201d said Stevens. \u201cI am hoping to bring the same spirit to Las Vegas.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Golden Knights\u2019 President Kerry Bubolz, expressed his delightfulness in partnering up with the Stevens Brothers.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re very excited for this partnership with Derek and the D Las Vegas,&#8221; Bubolz said. &#8220;Every time I hear him speak about Downtown Las Vegas, I get more and more excited about working with this part of the city.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The team\u2019s Head Coach, Gerard Gallant, was excited to see the fans\u2019 response along the Fremont Street Experience, and the astounding support the team had received from across the city. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s very exciting,&#8221; he said. &#8220;There&#8217;s real good people here, you can see the excitement down here with the fans, so I think it&#8217;s going to be great.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The ceremony concluded with a special surprise from the Stevens brothers to their new partners, team President Kerry Bubolz and Head Coach Gerald Gallant, with their very own custom D Hotel and Golden Knights blazers, sporting their own names on the back along with the number 17. <\/p>\n<p>The Golden Knights\u2019 first home game will be against the Los Angeles Kings during the preseason on September, 26.
