On October 15 until the end of the month, PokerStars will run its well cherished NJCOOP poker series (New Jersey Championship of Online Poker). Prize pool money is at least $1.2 million and competitors will be treated to a series of events. On October 29 a $500 buy-in Main Event will start.<\/p>\n
For the largest online poker series in New Jersey’s three-year history of legalized internet gambling, the NJCOOP will have surpassed its rivals, including the PokerStars NJ Spring Championship of Online Poker (NJSCOOP) and its rival site partypoker\/Borgata.<\/p>\n
With buys-in ranging from $15 to $1,000, the NJCOOP was created for all types of players. Buy-in events start with $100, $150, $200 and $240 levels. Ranging from $7,500 to $200,000, the minimum guaranteed prize pool is divided over 43 tournaments during 17 days.<\/p>\n
Tournaments in All Types<\/p>\n
The NJCOOP does not only feature the no-limit hold’em game. Limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha high-low, pot-limit Omaha, stud and mixed games are some of the other games that players can partake in.<\/p>\n
“There are three tournaments that will receive more attention than others. On October 17, a $500 buy-in PLO High Roller event has a $30,000 guarantee. Eight days later, the $1,000 buy-in High Roller NLH tournament kicks off with $100,000 prize money guaranteed. And then, of course, everyone will be looking forward to the $500 Main Event to conclude the series”.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
On a smaller scale the recently completed PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) being held with this New Jersey’s version. In of the most popular annual poker events in the world, millions of dollars were awarded to player in the WCOOP. As players in New Jersey or anywhere else in the US cannot access the global PokerStars website, the NJCOOP is only available to players located in the Garden State.<\/p>\n
How Effective is Brand Recognition?<\/strong><\/p>\n
Two years behind its competitors, PokerStars didn’t enter the New Jersey market until March this year. The NJ online poker scene was expected to be taken over by the world’s largest online poker brand by most people. However, this has not played out yet.<\/p>\n
For online poker traffic, PokerStars barely tops the Garden State charts. When PokerStars opened its doors in late March people expected WSOP\/888 and partypoker\/Borgata to loose many of its customer, but this hasn’t been the case.<\/p>\n
PokerStars now tries to convince poker players to make the switch to their online site with the NJCOOP. During the NJCOOP there will be many non-resident players traveling to play online poker in New Jersey.<\/p>\n
Of course, a PokerStars team Pro’s will be there to compete against the average recreational players, such as Chris Moneymaker.<\/p>\n
