The cable network ESPN, has announced the World Series of Poker 2016 TV schedule. From September 6, the self-proclaimed “worldwide leader in sports” will broadcast the Global Casino Championship and the WSOP Main Event.

On September 6, ESPN2 will air two episodes on the Global Casino Championship. Previously the WSOP episodes were aired on Tuesdays, however the cable network will are the Main Event on Sunday at 8:30 and 10 pm. On October 1, the final table will the aired “live”, with a mandated 30-minutes delay.

The Main Event coverage will air at the same time as NBC’s Sunday Night Football. On October 31, day Two of the final table will compete with ESPN’s Monday Night Football (and Halloween!). It will be difficult to compete with America’s most popular sport.

Another change regarding the ESPN’s WSOP coverage this year, is that the filming did not start until Day Four, differently than previous years, when the broadcasting began from Day One.

Asked about this change, Norman Chad said:

“Any question you can ask me about anything in television essentially leads to the same answer: money. They save money by creating the same number of telecasts out of fewer days. So someone decided to cut out the six extra days of production costs for Days One to Three.”

To give viewers some unique angles, ESPN also added a techno-jib camera and the commentary table will receive Phill Laak, Antonio Esfandiari and Kara Scott to join McEachern and Chad.

The Winner get $8 Million

The bracelet of the Main Event is the only one still up for grabs and Cliff “JohnnyBaxx” is currently the chip leader.

ESPN will also air a shorted version of the final table on November 20. The edited version will show the best moments of the final table, including the winning moments.

The cable network ESPN, has announced the World Series of Poker 2016 TV schedule.
