This weekend former professional poker player Aaron Jones, aka \u201caejones\u201d won a life-changing $5 million prize. This is the biggest accomplishment of his career. He came first in the Draftkings Fantasy Football World Championship, the biggest daily fantasy sports of the industry.<\/p>\n
This championship shows how much DFS has grown in the past years and the popularity explosion it had in 2015. Throughout the year DFS players participated in many satellites tournaments, trying to make to the championship and have a shot at winning the impressive $15 million prize pool.<\/p>\n
The 15-week long championship started with 200 competitors and only the top ten players made to the final, which was held last weekend in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
According to the experts the favourite was Charles \u201cCONDIA\u201d Chon. In the past he was even accused of being a computer, due to his very advanced predicting skills.<\/p>\n
However, Jones did manage to do a better job by using his poker skills. He drafted heavily from the Cardinals. Fortunately for Jones the Cardinals came through and beat the Packers by 6 points, the final score was 26-20.<\/p>\n
In an interview to Fox Sports before the final, Jones said:<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of the FFWC finalists come from a similar background as me, but I think I have a slight \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 edge\u201d. \u201cMy risk tolerance is going to be much higher than almost everyone else\u2019s. I\u2019m \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 extremely used to expected value and not being results oriented.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Even Though Jones had earned the respect from peers and other players that followed his tutorials through LeggoPoker, he had never won such a big tournament. In this regards, he had less achievements than other players of his calibre.<\/p>\n
During the same interview to Fox Sports before the final he said the following on that matter:<\/p>\n
\u201cMy friends always joke with me that I\u2019ve never really won all that much in poker even though I\u2019ve played in such high-stakes tournaments,\u201d \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of variance involved, but it would be extremely satisfying if I won the FFWC.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Well, his time has come. After winning he made a post on his twitter account saying: \u00a0\u201cIt was fun and I would do it again\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
