The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online kicked off on July 1 with a string of events running through September 6.

The first World Series of Poker gold bracelet event for 2020 has kicked off yesterday, Wednesday, July 1. Only this time, instead of being held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, the WSOP is taking place online.

Originally, the event should have taken place on April 20, but the COVID-19 outbreak brought up too many uncertainties for the organizers to commit to any specific schedule. Commenting on the postponement back in April, WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart had this to say:

“We are committed to running the WSOP this year but need additional time to proceed on our traditional scale while prioritizing guest and staff well-being”

Commitment in the poker world, however, means seeing things through, and this is precisely what happened with the WSOP deciding to shift all events online. The World Series of Poker Online will host not one but 85 gold-bracelet events players can vie for between July 1 and September 6.

To sign up for the WSOP Online, all you need to do is reside or live temporarily in a state where WSOP.com is accessible as well as meet the legal requirement and be at least 21 years of age. Presently, WSOP is only available to New Jersey and Nevada players, with Pennsylvania’s regulators still in the process of approving the WSOP/888poker platform in the Keystone State.

A gold bracelet event will take place every day in July, with the buy-ins ranging from $400 to $3,200. All events will determine the winner on the same day and there will be various formats to pick from, including No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha.

The first event already finished yesterday with the $500 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em Kick-off.

WSOP Online Gets Underway with the $500 Kick-off
