The World Poker Tour and partypoker have partnered up to continue rolling out poker events in the United States and help fill in the vacuum left by the lack of traditional poker events.

The World Poker Tour and partypoker have rekindled an old romance with one of the leading tournament hosts now entering New Jersey assisted by the long-established online card room company. The move, while subject to almost two years of negotiations, comes right on time with land-based poker around the United States not quite able to restart.

With all summer poker events canceled, the World Poker Tour has had to adapt and move the bulk of competitions online. The WPT Online Series by partypoker was the companies’ first joint venture to keep poker running with 94 tournaments played over 29 days and a total prize pool reaching $52,877,550.

The WPT Main Event winner, Christian Jeppsson, added $923,000 to his career victories. Meanwhile, with the Online Series in progress, partypoker announced that it would also host the WPT World Online Championship, keeping interested in poker vibrant.

The series will run from July 1 through August 29 in a bid to fill the vacuum left by the cancellation of the World Series of Poker which was due to take place in June but had to be moved for later in autumn when the COVID-19 outbreak had been brought under control, and then reintroduced as an online event instead.

With the companies evidently launching a few successful enterprises together, the next step is to enter fresh markets. WPT and partypoker have agreed to launch their New Jersey initiative which will feature the WPT Online Poker Open hosted by BorgataPoker and partypoker.

Partypoker and WPT Team Up to Bring More Poker Events Online
