The move, while subject to almost two years of negotiations, comes right on time with land-based poker around the United States not quite able to restart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With all summer poker events canceled, the World Poker Tour has had to adapt and move the bulk of competitions online. The <strong>WPT Online Series<\/strong> by partypoker was the companies&#8217; first joint venture to keep poker running with 94 tournaments played over 29 days and a total prize pool reaching $52,877,550.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WPT Main Event winner, <strong>Christian Jeppsson<\/strong>, added $923,000 to his career victories. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinepokeramerica.com\/news\/partypoker-us-network-online-series-kicks-off-may-10\/\">with the Onlin<\/a><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinepokeramerica.com\/news\/partypoker-us-network-online-series-kicks-off-may-10\/\" target=\"_blank\">e<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinepokeramerica.com\/news\/partypoker-us-network-online-series-kicks-off-may-10\/\"> Series in progress<\/a>, partypoker announced that it would also host the <strong>WPT World Online Championship<\/strong>, keeping interested in poker vibrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The series will run from July 1 through August 29 in a bid to fill the vacuum left by the cancellation of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinepokeramerica.com\/news\/wsop-2020-postponed-for-the-fall-ggpoker-steps-up\/\" target=\"_blank\">the World Series of Poker<\/a> which was due to take place in June but had to be moved for later in autumn when the COVID-19 outbreak had been brought under control, and then reintroduced as an online event instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wpt-turns-a-new-leaf-in-new-jersey\">WPT Turns a New Leaf in New Jersey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the companies evidently launching a few successful enterprises together, the next step is to enter fresh markets. WPT and partypoker have agreed to launch their New Jersey initiative which will feature the <strong>WPT Online Poker Open<\/strong> hosted by <strong>BorgataPoker <\/strong>and <strong>partypoker<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WPTOnline?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WPTOnline<\/a> is coming to New Jersey! The event will feature <strong>a $300,000 GTD<\/strong> and kick off on <strong>Sunday<\/strong>, <strong>June 28<\/strong>. All events can be played on the partner websites, including nj.partypoker.com, borgatapoker.com, and betmgmpoker.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The buy-in for the event is listed at <strong>$400<\/strong>, but there will be satellite events that will allow anyone interested to try and qualify for as little as <strong>$5<\/strong>. The offers will run everyday through June 28. Another satellite will require <strong>a $45 buy-in<\/strong> to participate and it will also run until the tournament officially launches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, casinos in the United States have been reopening but without poker. Detroit and New York, Pennsylvania <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/eu.freep.com\/story\/money\/business\/michigan\/2020\/06\/08\/detroit-casinos-reopen-smoking-poker-buffet\/5320144002\/\" target=\"_blank\">and Michigan\u2019s properties are all restarting operations<\/a>, but poker tables are not to return any time soon, regulators cautioned in each state. Meanwhile, the World Series of Poker Online has been announced. The move is designed to save the largest poker tournament by transferring it to the digital frontier in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hosts will offer 85 WSOP gold bracelet-awarding events.
