The event, which was supposed to unfold from <strong>May 26<\/strong> through <strong>July 15<\/strong> at the <strong>Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino<\/strong> in <strong>Las Vegas<\/strong>, will now have to wait on the backburner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This decision came shortly before Nevada Governor <strong>Steve Sisolak<\/strong> said that <a href=\"https:\/\/news3lv.com\/news\/local\/were-certainly-not-opening-up-the-strip-gov-sisolak-fires-back-discusses-re-opening\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">he doesn\u2019t plan to open casinos in the foreseeable future<\/a> and instead left that decision with health experts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The uncertainties surrounding the event had been building up even between a national lockdown was announced due to COVID-19. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com\/investing\/2020\/04\/22\/this-173-billion-casino-acquisition-could-be-in-tr.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Eldorado acquisition of Caesars Entertainment<\/a><\/strong> briefly had some players doubt whether the original venue of the event would be retained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-is-wsop-2020-going-to-be-affected\">How Is WSOP 2020 Going to Be Affected?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>WSOP dismissed those rumors arguing that everything\nremained on track. With the 51<sup>st<\/sup> World of Series of Poker edition pushed\nall the way back to the fall, there could be yet more changes coming to the circuit\nand events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2020 WSOP Postponed :<br>The 51st World Series of Poker (WSOP), is officially being postponed as a result of the public health emergency involving COVID-19. It is now targeted for fall of 2020, with exact dates and events to be determined.<br>More details: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iaYZgSGXr9\">https:\/\/t.co\/iaYZgSGXr9<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UVL6PQwH96\">pic.twitter.com\/UVL6PQwH96<\/a><\/p>&mdash; WSOP (@WSOP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WSOP\/status\/1252343332111388674?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 20, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>WSOP will probably have to revisit its schedule and reduce the number of the 101 events planned for this year\u2019s edition. The Main Event, with its $10K buy-in for the No-Limit,<strong> Hold\u2019em World Championship<\/strong> is likely to stay intact. However, others might be cut out completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Online events<\/strong> are still an option with some <strong>14 events <\/strong>planned for players in <strong>New Jersey<\/strong>, <strong>Nevada<\/strong>, and <strong>Delaware <\/strong>\u2013 those are not very likely to change at all, as they will be an important cornerstone of the poker experience in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As previously reported by <strong>Adam<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinepokeramerica.com\/news\/global-online-poker-traffic-doubles-in-march-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">poker traffic to online cardrooms has doubled<\/a> since the beginning of the lockdown. Yet, WSOP too has not just stood idly by hoping for the best in the face of adversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WSOP Circuit Events will now also be offered in collaboration with <strong>GGPoker <\/strong>following a partnership last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18 WSOP gold rings are available and more official bracelet events hosted by GGPoker should arrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wsops-re-structuring-begins-with-online-shift-of-attention\">WSOP\u2019s Re-structuring Begins with Online Shift of Attention<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Amid the difficulty and abrupt changes in schedule, WSOP\nmay have decided to give up on a trusted ally, 888poker and replace it\ncompletely with <strong>GGPoker<\/strong>. There are many reasons to suspect as much. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Point of clarification: the WSOP online events this summer will be on 2 different networks:<br><br>1.
