After postponing or outright cancelling events in <strong>Asia<\/strong>\nand <strong>Europe<\/strong> due to the coronavirus outbreak, the company has now suspended\ntournaments in the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, the company cancelled the <strong>WPT main\ntour<\/strong> as well as the <strong>WPTDeepStacks<\/strong> over the last two months. The\norganization hopes that players will be able to participate in the few events\nstill left on the calendar for May, but this may be subject to change as the\nnovel coronavirus death toll is rising with stricter measures put in place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the plus side, this has been an opportunity for the WPT to consolidate its online standing. One major partnership has been struck with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlinepokeramerica.com\/news\/partypoker-vying-for-the-leader-spot-in-the-us-online-poker-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">partypoker<\/a> in a bid to extend online poker options in several important markets as well as boost awareness for <strong>ClubWPT<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">WPTDeepStacks Online Series Event #5 has started on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FRpartypoker?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@FRpartypoker<\/a> and the Main Events are just about to kick-off for Day 1B at 20:00.<br><br>Wondering how the festival started?<br>Read about it here: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4TtyojFcFP\">https:\/\/t.co\/4TtyojFcFP<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/BzJrJ1UPap\">pic.twitter.com\/BzJrJ1UPap<\/a><\/p>&mdash; @WPTDeepStacks (@WPTDeepStacks) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WPTDeepStacks\/status\/1247219072720306178?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 6, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wpt-events-hit-across-the-board\">WPT Events Hit Across the Board<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Over a dozen of important events have been postponed\nor cancelled so far, including the <strong>WPT Venetian<\/strong> and <strong>WPT Barcelona<\/strong>\nas well as the <strong>WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown<\/strong> held in Florida.\nWith the entire casino industry in the United States and across the world\nbrought to a halt, the WPT has no venues to hold its events in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>WPTDeepStacks<\/strong> has been one of the most heavily\naffected events due to the global footprint of the event. Both <strong>WPTDS Vietnam<\/strong>\nand <strong>WPTDS Amsterdam<\/strong> have been postponed, followed by <strong>WPTDS Maryland<\/strong>,\nthe <strong>WPTDS Championship<\/strong> and the <strong>WPTDS European Championship<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More tournaments have been postponed, including the <strong>WPTDS<\/strong>\n<strong>Johannesburg<\/strong>, <strong>Pittsburgh<\/strong>, <strong>Montreal<\/strong>, <strong>Taiwan<\/strong> and\nothers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the plus side, the World Poker Tour has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldpokertour.com\/news\/wpt-update-list-of-wpt-events-impacted-by-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">keeping an updated list of all events<\/a> and their status, making it easy for the community around the world to stay informed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"shifting-the-wpt-focus-online\">Shifting the WPT Focus Online <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the land-based segment suffering a great deal, the\nWPT has shifted its focus on the online segment. The company announced the <strong>WPT\nOnline Series<\/strong> hosted by <strong>partypoker<\/strong> for <strong>May 10<\/strong> through <strong>May\n26<\/strong>, a first. The event will guarantee a whopping $15 million <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No tournament has been left behind after a similar solution was introduced to the WPTDS with the addition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/pokerindustrypro.com\/news\/article\/211254-partypoker-host-first-ever-15-million-guaranteed-wpt-online\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">WPTDeepStacks Online Series<\/a> again hosted by partypoker. This event will focus on the French and Spanish markets <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WPTDeepStacks\/status\/1247174113891885057\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">with 44 tournaments held between April 5 through April 20<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company has also used the opportunity to draw more\nattention to its online products by promoting <strong>ClubWPT<\/strong>.
