2019 has come to a close, and that means one important thing in the online poker world. Today, the Global Poker Index has named its Players of the Year with five players receiving special honours.

There are six players who have received the top honours for
the GPI’s Players of the Year. Each one has accumulated points based on their
cashes over the last year, and these are the players who came out on top:

The special thing about Alex Foxen winning the Player of the Year title is that it is his second time in a row to do so. No other player in the history of the GPI’s Player of the Year race has ever done so before. Foxen has truly had a fantastic year, and the pressure is now on for him to complex the trifecta in 2020.

The GPI has also named Players of the Year for every country. Sam Greenwood is Canada’s Player of the Year while Joao Simao is Brazil’s. Kahle Burns has won the Player of the Year title in Australia, while Anatoly Filatov won the title in the Russia.

Each of these players have had a tremendous year in the
poker world. We’re sending out our congratulations to all of them, and wishing them
even more success in 2020.

The Global Poker Index calculates points for players with
quite a complex system. Players receive points for tournaments that have 32 or
more players and a buy-in of at least $1. Their total number of points is
determine based on their finish relative to the number of runners in each event
and the “buy-in factor”.

The race will begin again as poker tournaments start getting
underway in the near year. Of course, it will be an exciting race, and we’re
eager to see which players will come out on top in 2020.

2019 has come to a close, and that means one important thing in the online poker world.
